Battle Management System for Tactical Command Support

Battle Management System (BMS) provides tactical commanders with a near real-time "Common Operational Picture" (COP) and offers a plans and orders facility for the lower and higher echelons.

Agility in Tactical Command

The flow of information often starts to falter as soon as forces start moving. Valuable information generated at battalion level may not reach receivers in time - battlefield intelligence, friendly forces status and locations, etc.

The BMS enables tactical commanders to rapidly response to situations in the field in an efficient and synchronized way. An accurate, timely situational awareness supports qualified decision making and enhances commanders' operational capabilities.

Tested with the most common tactical radios, the BMS is optimised for agility in tactical command.

Enhancing Own Force Security

The BMS enhances the security of own forces and minimises the risk of friendly fire through the COP and by e.g. enabling current adjustments to plans that are distributed instantly to relevant parties. Sketches of plans can even be drawn directly on the screen and be displayed to other units or to HQ immediately.

Accelerate Decision Making

Battle Management System is optimised for highly mobile field use. The timely and flexible Common Operational Picture (COP) supports tactical decision with easily accessible timely information of own, neutral and enemy positions.

The commander chooses the preferred display of the COP from a combination of layers showing 'Blue Force Tracking', 'Enemy' and 'Neutral' units. The COP can be displayed in different zoom levels and with various types of maps as background e.g. satellite photos or topographic maps.

Designed for Ultimate Mobility

Specifically designed for ruggedised equipment, the BMS is suitable for use in the field e.g. on a TabletPC of reduced size and weight with a touch screen. All colours are designed for both strong daylight and night use.
The unique user interface provides an intuitive game-like experience with operations that can be performed with only one or two touches on the large buttons.

Figure 3. The TabletPC is ideal for use in the vehicle as well as for the dismounted soldier

Mounted in the vehicle, a live sensor feeds information of the surroundings directly to the screen. The view is shown with the COP. The intelligence help protect soldiers and may make excursions in extremely hostile environments superfluous.

Reports, Plans and Orders within Seconds

The BMS is MIP compliant and interacts seamlessly with Headquarters using this standard. Headquarters are capable of communicating Plans & Orders directly to the BMS.

The tactical commander quickly reports any changes observed in the field to other friendly units and to HQ. Reports on ‘friendly’, ‘neutral’ or ‘hostile’ positions are shared automatically with other predefined units.

As the operation progresses the forward commander can draft alternatives within seconds using the freehand ‘Drawing Tool’. Once a Plan is completed, it is distributed instantenously.
